<description>My wife and I recently visited Maui and took the Maui Gold Pineapple plantation tour. Our hope in attending was to get some great local history and maybe get to sample some fresh pineapple. While we enjoyed many activities on Maui, for its views, history and overall education of Maui and its once staple product, we couldn't have been happier with the tour. From the extensive history of the island and company, to tasting freshly picked pineapple directly from the plant, to selecting our own to bring home to the mainland, we came away from the experience having received much more than we ever expected. While sad to hear that labor costs and the changing environment have limited pineapple growth in Hawaii, we are optimistic that this "green" company will develop into the future with Hawaii and its residents' best interests in mind. We can't thank the company enough and would recommend this tour to everyone we know who plans to visit Maui. Mahalo Maui Gold!
